Dr Andrew Murrison MP has told Wiltshire Council not to close an OFSTED Good rated special school in Trowbridge.
At a briefing for local MPs this afternoon at County Hall, local MPs were told that SEND provision would be centred on Exeter House in Salisbury and a rebuilt provision at Rowdeford School near Devizes at a cost of £20 million.
Larkrise School in Ashton Street Trowbridge would be closed under the proposals.
Andrew said;
“I will be consulting the school community but cannot see how bussing my vulnerable young constituents all the way to Devizes would be in their best interests. If you speak with families they will tell you how traumatic travel to school can be for children with profound learning difficulties. Larkrise may be on a cramped site but that hasn’t prevented it from being rated Good by OFSTED.”
