Andrew has expressed his delight at the interest shown by MPs and Peers across the political divide in the APPG he has convened to scrutinise the strategy of the National Trust, one of the nation’s best loved institutions. Speaking after his election as Co-Chair at a well-attended Inaugural Meeting in Westminster, the MP who led the debate on the Trust recently, and has Stourhead and Dinton Park in his constituency said:
“The Trust is a custodian of some of our most precious national treasures, landlord for hundreds of farmers, tenants, and businesses, and a very big employer. It has a huge membership, thousands of volunteers and enormous financial resources. Particularly since it is established by statute, it is important that it is properly scrutinized especially given recent controversies around it strategic direction. I hope this new group will help to do that.”
