Andrew Murrison MP has written to the Minister for Levelling Up Michael Gove to thank him for the support his department has shown for regeneration in Trowbridge. Wiltshire Council was awarded over £16,000,000 from the Future High Streets Fund in 2021. The Fund is a central government programme aimed at renewing and reshaping town centres and high streets in a way that drives growth, improves the experience for everyone visiting the town centre, and ensures a sustainable future. Since then, the Council has made substantial investments in improving local infrastructure and filling vacant units.
Andrew also thanked Mr Gove for the Department’s Area Lead team’s visiting Trowbridge earlier this year and discussing how the money has been invested. Andrew extended an open invitation to the minister to visit the town to see for himself the good work that has been done and what more he and other local leaders still seek to achieve.
Andrew said;
“This government understands the importance of making town centres work for people and businesses. The Future High Streets Fund award in 2021 has been really helpful and I am really pleased the Department for Levelling Up has continued to engage with us at a local level. There is already so much good work going on in Trowbridge and I am confident we will be supported in our ambitions for further improvements in the future.”
