Andrew Murrison has sent in his response to Wiltshire Council’s consultation on its revised plans for Special Needs in the county.
Andrew, a former special school governor, has been opposing the closure of Larkrise School Trowbridge and its relocation with St Nicholas’ Chippenham to a new site near Devizes. He has listed a string of reasons for keeping Larkrise as part of the plans including the longer distances vulnerable young people would have to travel and OFSTED’s rating of Larkrise as Good. He said;
“I’m really pleased Wiltshire Council is about to spend a lot of money on upgrading schooling for pupils with special needs. However, the new consultation, which I welcome, it an opportunity to shape services around what young people, their families and the staff want, their hopes and their aspirations. For my constituents that definitely means retaining Larkrise longterm.”
