Trowbridge MP Dr Andrew Murrison has written to Education Secretary Damian Hinds to request a meeting about the planned closure of Larkrise School and its relocation to Rowdeford near Devizes.
The local MP who was governor of a special needs school before becoming an MP has been listening to the school community. He said;
"I commend Wiltshire Council for seeking to improve provision for my young constituents with special educational needs and their families but the current plans are not the solution. Larkrise is rated good by OFSTED and families tells me how important local community links are to them. They also point out how traumatic transport can be for people with special needs and these plans would make that worse for those I represent.
"An adequate case has not been made by the council and I hope it will think again.
"I have written to the minister to ask if he will meet to discuss how a better outcome can be achieved for some of the most vulnerable in and around the county town.
