Andrew Murrison, who is leading the TechTrowbridge initiative based on the Trowbridge travel to work area, has welcomed the Chancellor’s emphasis on digital technology and AI in the Spring Budget.
The ‘Red Book’ of Budget announcements today heralds a new £7.4 million upskilling fund pilot that will help the small and medium sized businesses that characterise the local work scene and develop AI skills of the future. It will complement the SME Digital Action Taskforce to be launched soon.
The government is announcing it will invest up to £100 million in the Alan Turing Initiative for AI data and science.
Andrew said;
‘Our area has a strong tech and SME base. We need a slice of the action announced today and I am determined to seize it.’
