Andrew today asked transport minister Robert Courts for an update on his department's strategic study into designating a corridor between the south coast and the M4. The study is expected to report in September. It is widely seen as crucial to securing major improvements to the A350 including a bypass to the west of Westbury that would take through traffic out of the town centre.
Dr Murrison's purpose was to emphasise once again the urgent need to bypass Westbury and Yarnbrook. Speaking after Mr Courts said he'd report back Andrew said;
"I'm puzzled that we appear to be forging ahead with a second A350 bypass for Melksham - which nobody seems to want - whilst ignoring the far greater problem at Westbury where the community has been demanding relief for as long as anyone can remember."
