Local MPs Rt Hon Dr Andrew Murrison (south west Wiltshire) and his neighbour Treasury minister John Glen (Salisbury) met NFU President and Wilshire farmer Minette Batters at an event in Parliament on Monday.
Andrew spent Friday morning on a farm near Warminster learning about land based business diversification and how farmers are helping with achieving net zero.
Dr Murrison has recently written to Minette to better understand the economical use of fertilizer following a recent visit to major phosphate producer Morocco where he is the PM's trade envoy. He said;
"Land based business is very important to the Wiltshire economy. Recent events have shown that we must improve further our ability to grow food here in the UK to feed an expanding population whilst addressing wherever we reasonably can the environmental impact of farming on the environment."
