Andrew Murrison and Wiltshire Councillor Suzanne Wickham have been made aware that mail isn't being delivered as it should in Westbury and surrounding villages.
They have been told by residents that days have gone by without deliveries. The MP has written to Royal Mail Chief Executive Simon Thompson to better understand what the issue is and to urge him to find a remedy. Royal Mail's website today (Thursday) says;
"In a small number of local offices, this [normal deliveries] may temporarily not be possible due to local issues such as high levels of sick absence, resourcing, or other local factors."
The website goes on to list 24 areas where problems have been identified but none are in Wiltshire.
Andrew said;
"I appreciate postal services are under pressure as we all change the way we communicate. However, the public is being expected to pay more for a stamp in exchange for what looks like a poorer service. Plainly that's not sustainable."
