Andrew Murrison has welcomed news that the Communities Secretary Michael Gove has rejected an application for a waste burner in Consett County Durham but has written to him to ask why the same hasn't applied to Westbury where the Bristol planning inspectorate has green lighted plans by the company Hills Waste/NREL despite similar grounds for rejection. Andrew said;
"Great news for Consett and County Durham but why not Westbury and Wiltshire? I will not rest until NREL and its investors decide the money costs and regulatory risks are just too great for any conceivable return, pack up and go away. That'll be a great day for Westbury and a great day for responsibly reducing, reusing and recycling waste."
The MP is also lobbying hard with ministers and advisers to get a moratorium on more burners and an incineration tax to promote responsible waste management.
